Nigerian delegation visits Turkey as part of Youth Bridge Programme

Office of Public Diplomacy hosted a delegation of 6 participants from Nigeria as part of Youth Bridge Programme between 14-19 September, 2015.

On the first day of the programme, the Nigerian Delegation visited Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) and Ministry of Youth and Sports where they were informed on Turkey´s energy policies, more than 200 projects TİKA conducts in Africa and Turkey´s sports and youth vision.

On the second day, the delegation had the opportunity to visit the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foundation for Political, Economic and Social Research (SETA).

On the last day of the Ankara programme, the Nigerian Delegation paid a visit to the Directorate General of Press and Information (BYEGM) and met our Media Director Gözde Kirişcioğlu. Informing the participants of Turkey´s public diplomacy vision, Kirişçioğlu noted that public diplomacy was needed more than ever now and for this reason, the Office of Public Diplomacy was exerting every effort to share Turkey´s success story with the rest of the world. Kirişçioğlu also stated that Youth Bridge Programmes were of crucial importance to foster relations between Turkey and visiting countries and that the Nigerian Delegation was the 7th group from Africa which have been so far hosted by the Office of Public Diplomacy.

Following their visit to BYEGM Headquarters, the delegation visited Anadolu Agency and Embassy of Nigeria where they met Ibrahim Isah, Charge d´affaires of Embassy of Nigeria.

Nigerian Delegation, 11th guest group of the Youth Bridge Programme, finally visited Istanbul Trade Chamber and Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEİK).

Office of Public Diplomacy has hosted delegations from Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, Niger, Gabon, Senegal, Yemen, the USA, Palestine, Balkan countries, Poland and Pakistan within the framework of Youth Bridge Programmes.
