Delegation from Al-Nahrain Center For Strategic Studies visited the Office of Public Diplomacy

A delegation from Al-Nahrain Center For Strategic Studies visited the Office of Public Diplomacy as part of the training program organized jointly by Center for Middle Eastern Strategic Studies (ORSAM) and The Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC).

Hosting the delegation, our Coordinator Ali Osman Öztürk underlined the importance that NGOs, universities, agencies, media and private sector rank among the important actors in sharing nations´ and countries´ stories as such mechanisms are more comprehensive and sincere in comparison with the cold and distant nature of official agencies.

Öztürk noted that the Office of Public Diplomacy hosted 16 different journalist delegations from various countries (184 journalists in total) in 2015 and continued as follows: "In today´s world, the information flows very swiftly and directly without knowing right from the wrong. However, such cultural activities enable information spread in a correct way without disinformation and help solve the problems.”

"Our priority is to help the Turkish foreign policy be understood in a correct way by all circles. There are almost 20 institutions and agencies in Turkey which are conducting public-diplomacy related duties and activities. We, as the Office of Public Diplomacy, coordinate these agencies and facilitate their duties when needed,” stated Coordinator Özdemir.
